Auditorium doors. The sense of dynamic movement as reflected in all the forms and details of this concert hall, echo the great Art Deco traditions of the Odeons. However the actual choice and junction method of materials make the interior entirely contemporary. Building study image 2

The Royal Concert Hall is essentially a traditional one-direction auditorium. The photograph shows a standard lighting arrangement for an orchestra rehearsal, but the whole feel of the auditorium can be dramatically altered by the use of lighting banks in the ceiling and a further lighting installation in the acoustic canopy. Reputedly the the largest movable canopy in the world, it can be lowered and raised to suit the particular acoustic and spatial requirements of a wide range of events. Concert hall seating image
